Good Good Boy
Good Good Boy is an artist who works in impasto oils of cheeky subjects with colourful execution and a sense of humour. Spanning from pop-culture to dog portraits, their work is highly alluring like shiny, multicoloured sweeties. Good Good Boy exhibited with DAOR Contemporary on its 2022 group show Meraki.
Good Good Boy* is the brainchild and artist pseudonym of filmmaker, Meghan Daniels. Good Good Boy’s work is multidisciplinary and inspired by the internet, pop culture, relationships, social absurdity, self-deprecating humour and all the pubescent doodles you wrote in your work books in high school when daydreaming. However one is ‘meant’ to create art, Good Good Boy has no idea how to. They smear thick layers of oil paint into memes and crying dogs, scratch emojis into canvas, and learn about colour mixing through Google images and Youtube. Whilst Good Good Boy is an expression of introverted thoughts and a side hustle to pay bills, their work can actually, probably, be best described by a troll in their Instagram comments “someone who is bored but has decided to paint.”
*The name Good Good Boy is a play on having to double words in social media handles because of usernames already being taken…and dogs.
